Get Your Rave On

It’s Friday, which means time to rave. If you’re DJing tonight, make the dance floor go nuts with this remix of Digitalism’s “Zdarlight”by Deniz Koyu (and Fedde Le Grand). His name may sound familiar because he had another great song that we posted 5 days ago. Although this is a little similar to the original, it has an the unmistakable dance beat which just gets you going!! Also, this is just a preview, but its giving us plenty of reason to get STOKED. We’ll update once the full version is out!! You’re not going to want to miss it.

Professional Griefers – Official Video

We posted this song a little while back; well, now there’s a HIGHLY entertaining video to go along with it! Deadmau5’s “Professional Griefers” ft Gerard Way—enjoy!

Sly Fox

Jazz and Electronic seem to go along well a lot of the time, unless you’re  a Jazz supremacist who doesn’t want his saxophone tainted with scratch sound. Check out this smooth new song by KOAN Sound under Skrillex’s OWSLA!

Note: This may sound like the same as a previous post, Steve Aoki is just playing Brahms to start out (as he did in Aoki’s House 40) but the rest is not the same so check it out!

This Song is Jaxxed

We’re not sure if Basement Jaxx’s new song Hoopstep is supposed to be a mashup, or what.  It goes through very distinct parts, all unified by a repeated melody. Either way its awesome, check it out:

Bassnectar Will Have His Say

Did you guys hear Steve Aoki’s, “The Kids Will Have Their Say” (TKWHTS), and completely love it? Chances are, the answer is “no”. As a huge departure from his other works, TKWHTS featured heavy metal vocals that just turned a lot of people off.  Luckily, Bassnectar put his own spin on it and remixed TKWHTS from heavy metal into some awesome dark, dubstep. Check out the dope remix:

Madeon, Ouí!

There are strong stereotypes towards French people here in the United States. Americans think that French people are rude, there are only nude beaches in France, and French people are stuck-up and don’t have fun (amongst others).  We don’t know if any of these are true, but we definitely are one step closer to completely dismissing  the last one. After listening to 18-year old Hugo Pierre Leclercq, AKA Madeon, we know that we would love to go rage with the French. Check out “The City”:

Controversy in the DJsphere

;

A lot of you may remember the controversy surrounding Deadmau5’s comments regarding live shows. He pretty much said that Djs are just button pushers, and anyone with an hour of training could do a live show. His brutal honesty didn’t appeal to everyone, and a lot Djs were upset with his remarks. Well, it seems like there’s more controversy, this time by Laidback Luke.

In a interview last week, Luke says that, “A lot of DJs are comfortable with what they play at various festivals and are doing the same sets over and over again.” He goes on to say “A lot of famous DJs these days are famous because of their productions. These guys came out of the studio and don’t really have a DJ background, so you have DJs who play their tracks, but they’re essentially not very skilled.”

This part seems to be directed at Deadmau5, who in his Tumblr had mentioned that his, “skills and other PRODUCERS’ skills shine where it needs to shine… in the goddamned studio, and on the fucking releases. thats what counts.”

No matter which way you look at it, we’re sure that all Djs do things that most of us would not be able to do. They have gotten so used to what they do that it is second nature to them, not realizing how difficult it is to be truly creative these days.

SQUAD UP! (Official Video)

EDM is one of the most versatile types of music ever. It’s usually great on its own; but how about with some rhymes spat in? Check out the official video for Netsky’s “Squad Up”:

Superlove Music Video

JUST RELEASED–The music video for Avicii and Lenny Kravitz’s “Superlove”.  It shows us how we feel every time we listen to an Avicii song, as we watch an extremely enthusiastic fan boogie it out. Being teleported (or maybe he’s just hallucinating) to an outrageous and epic dance party. We’ll let the video do the talking:

Last Dance

You’ve probably heard the name Avicii floating around before, and it’s no understatement to call him one of the biggest stars in EDM right now.  So it shouldn’t surprise you that Avicii has come out with another great song, which you’ll be hearing a lot more of in the coming months.  His latest song, “Last Dance” was first played in March, but it is finally available for download.

Download it here: http://www.beatport.com/release/last-dance/955027

Para-who?

We don’t know much about Parodox. We don’t know if he spelled his name wrong on purpose or not. All we know that, according to him, he’s “just a stupid kid with a computer”.  He’s an up-and-coming artist from “Nowhere, USA” (according to his Soundcloud profile), and if he keeps delivering songs like his latest one, “Zombie Strippers”, we may get to know him a lot more.  The song has a dark, apocalyptic, vibe to it, befitting a movie about killer robots with laser vision.
