Boreal (Blood Diamonds Remix)

Once again, it’s Skrillex’s OWSLA bringing forth amazing talent. We posted about Hundred Waters last year, mentioning the dopeness that they ooze.  “Boreal (Blood Diamonds Remix)” features just that. With sick cuts, a steady catchy beat, soulful, soothing vocals, this song takes you on a journey. With folk vocals and trip pop like beats, you wouldn’t expect Skrillex’s OWSLA to sign Hundred Waters, but once you take a listen, you’ll know exactly why he did. With the added swankiness of Blood Diamonds, let them take you out of this world with their ungodly, blissful music.

Notorious Mashups

Notorious B.I.G might not be here any longer, but his raps are as alive as ever. With some sick mashup skills, bay area DJ Wait What shows his meticulousness in this set list of chill famous beats mixed with the lyrical genius of Biggie. Charlie Kubal’s, aka Wait What, “The Notorious XX” was awarded best mashup of 2010….yeah, we know it’s old, but in case you haven’t heard this this, here’s your chance. Enjoy!

To A New Earth – Kill Paris

Corey Baker aka Kill Paris is the new sensation in Skrillex’s OWSLA. With tremendous support from Skrillex himself along with A-Trak, Dillon Francis, and Flux Pavilion, Kill Paris has his sights on producing gnarly music. You might remember him from his own “name your own price” album release on “The Beginning (2012)”. Now, OWSLA is taking him to a whole new level by revamping Kill Paris’ already dope bass, jazzy melodies and packing kicks. Corey is all over the US sharing the stage with big names like Pretty Lights, Zion I, Mimosa, AraabMuzik, Whiskey Pete, Figure, Mac Miller, Infected Mushroom, & Nicky Romero to name a few. Check out this swanky setlist that will keep you bobbing your head all day!

Join Us!

Rowdy Beats is growing and we need dedicated, motivated and talented individuals to join.

Since we are simply doing this for our love of EDM, we can’t offer any sort of compensation. However, we can reward you the joy of exploring new music. If we find your work to be rad, we might throw in a Rowdy Beats t-shirt and there would be a possibility of attending concerts as a Rowdy Rep!

We are looking for writers, marketing tacticians, web designers, video editors or any other talents that you may deem relevant.

If you think this is you contact us at:

LotusVibes “Build”

In case you missed Lotus’s new album we thought we would throw it up. Their new album “Build” is a funky mix of tunes that will have you jamming out from start to finish. This album has some nice house influences and some cool vinyl breaks.  These guys just continue to progress as musicians and their music is becoming better and better. We were lucky enough to attend their show a few weeks ago and their live performance was once again, mind blowing. The music that Lotus produces is truly artistic and they have such an original sound. We would also like to give a shout out to the band members themselves  Mike, Jesse and the guys are all very down to earth, cool people. We had the opportunity to talk with them for a bit after the show and we wish them the best of luck in the future! Come back to Minneapolis!!

Monday Mashup!

What do Kendrick Lamar, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ellie Goulding and The Lumineers all have in common? “Firefly”! This new track is the work of yet another genius of The White Panda. Producing dope mashups for a while now, the song features a sick complexion of the best of the artists mentioned above. The White Panda have mentioned this as part of the Firefly Music Festival’s tracks this summer, which will be set on the east coast in Delaware. All of the above mentioned artists will be featured at this festival from June 21-23!

We Love “Bliss”

“Bliss” is the name of Insan3Lik3’s most recent track and the sound has a pretty sweet vibe. We would say this is on the chiller side of the music we post, but it is a refreshing change of pace. The melodic lines intertwined with some cool vocals produce a beautiful sound and we love that feel! This track makes us want to get off planet Earth and explore outer space.  But don’t take our word for it, listen to the track and experience the adventure for  yourself!

Modesteppin Inside My Head

Photo: Belgium, you are fucking nuts!!

Modestep is back at it with a brand new full EP called Inside My Head. All we can say is that it would be a huge mistake to pass up on these new tunes. Josh, Tony and the boys bring their unique styles and tastes to the track and we can’t get enough of it! For their feature track “Inside My Head”, they teamed up with Teddy Killerz and the sound is great.   You never quite know what your going to get from a Modestep track due to their rock music influences and infusions of rap and all that dubby goodness. If the music at ~2:35 sounds familiar its from Showtimes hit show, “Dexter”. For all of you coming at us from Minneapolis, these boys will be passing through on the 7th of April. Don’t miss em!!

Friday “Entertainment”

We’ve posted about Ravi aka Sex Ray Vision before – stating that he hails from Stanford and does what he does for the simple love of EDM. Well, that love is not stopping anytime soon. Check out this newly released remix: “Entertainment”. Originally by Phoenix featuring upbeat synthesizers, bouncy drum beats, and a catchy hook, Ravi has once again made an already awesome song into this rad dance remix that will jump start your Friday party! So be sure to play this tonight, whether you’re partying at home or anywhere else; or if you’re like the unlucky ones, play it while you study or work, so you can automatically be in a good dancing mood 🙂

July 4th? Nah…it’s “Bootleg Fireworks”!

We did not think that Dillon Francis could do much more to prove his talent as an electronic artist, but he has proven us wrong. Known as the “Galactic Emperor of Moombah”, Dillon has shown his ingenuity  by creating tracks that have a beautiful fusion of house music and Reggaeton. But that is not why we are calling his name today. With his new single “Bootleg Fireworks (The Rebirth)”, Dillon Francis has entered the world of trap music and has come in with quite the bang! Using one of his favorite Moombahton tracks, he has raised the tempo of the song and given it a new twist that no one saw coming. There is also a rumor that his music video for the original track may drop within the next week. Keep your eyes and ears open!

Here Come the Sirens, “Roundabout”–Free Download

Coming at us from Berkley, California, SirensCeol (Stephen Burke), putting together some tracks that can hang with anyone. If you want to know what we are talking about, take a listen to his newest track “Roundabout”. It starts off slow but the tempo quickly picks up and then it just gets Rowdy!! We love his melody line and it has the effect of pulling you deeper and deeper into the music. The end of the song really did it for us though, as he pulls it back a little and ends things on a beat that anyone could vibe on. We love his sound and are looking forward to more!

Big Gigantic Interview–Minneapolis Rowdy Beats Exclusive!

One of our favorite artists, Big Gigantic graced us with this awesome interview! Dominic Lalli gave us an inside scoop into Big Gigantic and how they got to be where they are and an explanation into the dopeness that is their music. CHECK THEM OUT!

KAOS Comes Alive

Need a little trap music? KAOS is here to help you out. Only 21 years old, he is originally from India but now living in London. He has not put out a lot of music, but the little bit that he has produced is pretty cool. His song “Come Alive” is an excellent example of what we are talking about. The smooth vocals grab your attention and keep it throughout the entire song. The beat is a nice mix of Dubstep and Drum n’ Bass with some house influences in there as well. Do not be surprised if you hear this kid’s name again, he’s killing it!

“Bluestep” – The Age Of Reason

Many of you might know Gramatik from under the label of Pretty Lights, but now a transcendentalism movement has created Lowtemp – his own label that features his music along with his friends. With Lowtemp, Gramatik states that the label is putting out “cool music”, and when you listen to the song below you will know exactly what that means.  Gramatik presents his brand-new single: “Bluestep”. Talk about cool! This song features some tantalizing 50’s and 60’s blues rhythms along with the traditional and new era EDM beats. From his upcoming album “The Age of Reason”, this is the first track that features some dope dynamics Dubstep/EDM and Jazz. Enjoy!

Phat Brahms–Official Music Video

If you’ve been keeping up with Rowdy Beats, you’ve undoubtedly already heard Phat Brahms by Steve Aoki, Angger Dimas Vs. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike in Aokishouse 40 and 41, but now view the official music video! It features the four artists getting Rowdy in colonial times times and facing the threat of the guillotine. Watch the entire thing to find out what happens:

*Unfortunately, Dim Mak has decided to only release the video on MTV clubland, so we can only link you to it, instead of embedding it here 🙁 *

Update: We were just way ahead of the curve. It’s now on Youtube as well.

Lotus with Moon Hooch Concert Photos

Check out the photos from Lotus with Moon Hooch, at Mill City Nights, Minneapolis. 2/9

Artist Feature: Lotus (Minneapolis 2/9)

lotusbuild What’s up rave heads ? This weekend Minneapolis is being blessed with a show from the awesome electronic jam band, Lotus. The concert is going down at Mill City Heights and it is looking like it is going to be pretty amazing. The last time we saw Lotus was back in the summertime at Summerset Music Festival (in Somerset, WI). Lotus’s set stood out to us as one of the best moments of the entire festival. We stood there in awe along with our friends and fellow festival goers as the vibes of this amazing band flowed through us. It was a moment of perfect freedom. Lotus was originally formed at Goshen College in Indiana in 1999. There were five original band members (Mike Greenfield, Mike Rempel, Luke Miller, Jesse Miller and Steve Clemons) but it was not until Chuck Morris took over percussion in 2001 that the band became what it is today. Their first album, “Vibes” was released in 2002 and was actually just a simple compilation of their live performances in the year previous. Nonetheless, people quickly began to take notice and not long after they signed to Harmonized Records. They went on to produce several new albums, one of which, “Nomad”, was nominated for a “New Groove of the Year” award. The band then signed with SCI Fidelity and produced notable albums such as “Escaping Sargasso Sea” (nominated by Guitar Player magazine for “Best Album of the Year”) and “Hammerstrike”. Lotus is most known for their unmatched ability to mix sounds from many different genres including rock, electronica, jazz, jam, funk and others. If we had to pick one word to describe Lotus’s music is would be spiritual. Get out to one of their live shows and by the end you might just be a different person.

And if you haven’t been lucky enough to see them live, their currently on tour. Go check them out in Minneapolis tonight! At Mill City Nights. And get your tickets here.

We’ll let their song, “Colorado” do the rest of the talking from here:

Fly Friday

We all know about Steve Aoki’s DIM MAK records. Known for bringing forth boss status artists like DATSIK, Infected Mushroom, Bloody Beetroots, and many others to name a few. Now releasing his first in-house collaboration with Dim Mak artists Keys N Krates, Madeon – Icarus (Keys N Krates feat. Will Brennan Remix) is Will Brennan. Brennan strives to achieve excellence by producing lyrics that share his life story. Keys N Krates give Brennan the theme to his autobiography as he laces sick rhymes in this song.

“Troublemaker” Official Music Video

It’s officially here!! Haezer’s super sick music video is finally out. Last week we raved about the trailer, and we have definitely not been disappointed.  The music video is absolutely stunning, featuring a very cinematic feel (think Skrillex’s video for First of the Year, (Equinox)). Sort of Spoiler?: The end of the video was a nice twist, we’re not sure if the monoliths were a direct reference to “2001: A Space Odyssey” or if it was just referencing the extra-terrestrial in general. Either way, this is setting the bar really high for EDM music videos, and will be a tough one to beat. Check it out:

Dubstep Baby

When you think of a GoPro video and dubstep, you probably imagine some guy (or girl!) jumping off a cliff, shredding powder, or doing something that most of us can only fantasize about.  Well  this GoPro commercial appeals to a much, much, younger demographic. And if I was a baby, I’d be pretty compelled to buy one. The formula is still the same: feature the athlete doing something fairly normal, drop the bass, go slow-mo, and then? Check it out for yourself:
