Coming off of Minnesota’s most recent EP Equinox, “Stardust Redux” is a song that will send you  flying into outer space. Minnesota uses an excellent blend of spacey and melodic elements that are sure to send you off on a journey through your own mind. This song makes us feel like astronauts soaring through galaxies and drifting by planets and stars. Enjoy the ride!

SirensCeol “Coming Home”

Stephen Burke, producing under the name SirensCeol is a phenom on the rise and we highly advise that you jump on the bandwagon. With only about 4000 followers on SoundCloud, Sirens is only a beginner in the world of EDM. However, his music is on a whole different level and it’s hard to believe that he’s only been on the electronic music scene for a few years! We have already given this kid a shout out and his music continues to improve and impress. Give a listen to his new song “Coming Home” and you will understand why.  With wonderful melody lines, crazy drops and an ear full of dubby goodness, SirensCeol will leave you wanting more. Give this kid some support so we can get him out on tour!!

Adventure Club at Ultra!

As most of you know, last weekend was the 2nd phase of the epic Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida. Preforming last weekend were some of the world’s biggest and most known EDM artists including Skrillex, Steve Aoki, Avicii, Tiesto, and many more. But we want to give a shout out to our boys Christian and Leighton and the amazing sounds they are putting together as Adventure Club. Compared to some of the artists present, they were a lesser known group but it’s safe to say that their music can hang with anyone. Formed less than two years ago, these boys are known for signature female vocals and their face melting drops. Just take a listen to their set at Ultra and you will see why. Nothing like a ROWDY music festival!!!!

Daft Timberlake – Happy ‘Hood Internet’ Sunday!

Reigning from the good ‘ol midwest, this Chicago duo is one of the rare breeds.  The Hood Internet produce dope mashups that feature hip hop vocals, indie rock and EDM beats.  Composed of Aaron Brink aka ABX and Steve Reidell aka STV SLV (“Steeve Sleeve”), the multi-talented group brings us Justin Timberlake’s “Suit and Tie” with the greatness of Daft Punk’s “Commercial”. Check out this merry, upbeat mashup that will get your Sunday poppin’.

Afrojack’s “Bangtrap”

Afrojack just dropped a new tune and it’s pretty sweet.  Most known for his bass blaring, dance-driven tunes, we like how he’s mixed it up a little here. Showing his talent as an artist, Afrojack has taken his signature style and has managed to  blend this beat into more of an 808-heavy swing. We love trap!

heRobust “Busted House”

HeRobust is back with another sweet EP and we are all about it. HeRobust’s signature style is trap, but in his new release he does a great job of blending in a healthy amount of electro house and dubstep. The outcome is fantastic and every track has a little of what we love: Trap, bass, sick beats and more bass. Enjoy!

FRESH! “Skyclad”

Alvin Risk is part of Skrillex’s OWSLA. The Jack of so many genres in his illustrious career, this long awaited dubstep original features heavy drops that will have you banging your head all day. With an argyle inspiration from a cityscape, Alvin Risk really captured a wide range of listeners after his performance at Electric Zoo. One of Alvin’s favorite things about performing is changing the tempo of the song to get that “OHHH!” reaction from the audience, and he does just that in “Skyclad”.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Ravi aka Sex Ray Vision!

You have heard of Sex Ray Vision (we’ve written about him several times now), a bay area electro house DJ that in just one year became eminent with hundreds and thousands of downloads of his sick mashups, remixes and originals. He has close to 3 million views on his SRV YouTube channel, here is a taste of his genius “Mind Explosion 2011”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iqdDPLXT8E

Well now, the up and coming artist has taken a progressive step, and changed from SRV to Ravi. Our exclusive interview with the DJ was super chill and fun. We had the privilege of getting to know more about Ravi’s music and a little about who he is!

Rowdy Beats:

You used to be Sex Ray Vison, producing dope remixes and mashups. Could you tell us what prompted the change to Ravi? And more importantly, what sort of musical change will be under Ravi – will you be producing more original mixes or will your fans still have the rad remixes and mashups to look forward to?

Ravi:

I decided to change my name for a number of reasons. Mostly though I just wanted a fresh start and focus on stuff that’s a little bit different. As SRV I produced a lot of melodic, poppy house music and as Ravi I want to branch out into other EDM genres. I’m still doing a lot of the stuff that got me popular as SRV though as well, and there will be a lot of that in the future.

Rowdy Beats:

That’s interesting that you mentioned poppy and melodic as SRV. What artists are your inspiration in exploring other genres of EDM?

Ravi:

I’m into a lot of stuff right now. Artists I’ve been listening to a lot right now include TJR, Dubvision, Arty, R3hab, Swanky Tunes, Laidback Luke, Alvin Risk, … that’s just rattling off names of the stuff in my recently played queue on Spotify. I’m trying to find up-and-coming artists as well that don’t necessarily chart on the Beatport Top 100 and get tons of exposure, there’s tons of great stuff out there.

Rowdy Beats:

Can you tell us a little bit about your history with the love for music? When did you start producing/becoming interested in EDM?

Ravi:

It’s weird…I was never really into EDM as a kid but I got really into it like 3-4 years ago. Basically I always wanted to be a rockstar, but I was too lazy to learn how to play a guitar or something so I decided to start making EDM. And then of course I started listening to EDM and it all went from there…

Rowdy Beats:

[Haha] yeah I guess we all wanna be rockstars, I played guitar hero to suffice that.

You’ve had some incredible accomplishments already, including releases with Dim Mak and Epic Records, and opened for Cataracs and others. What has been your favorite set so far? And, where do you dream to play one day?

Ravi:

Wow that’s a tough question…there have been a lot of massive shows but I still enjoy doing shows at frats and small clubs where there are way too many people packed into a small room but everyone’s going crazy and having an awesome time. As for where I want to play some day…well Madeon just had a set at the New York Stock Exchange, which is one of the silliest things I’ve ever heard of, so I guess that’s my dream as well. To do a show somewhere ridiculous.

Rowdy Beats:

More on the future, what can old and new fans expect? More shows across the US? Any EPs?

Ravi:

For the future I got a lot of stuff coming up. Got a few really cool official remix opportunities on the horizon. I also have a couple vocal tracks in the pipeline, which is something I really want to get back to doing. Mostly though I just want to start exploring different styles of EDM and stuff that’s not just straight up 128 BPM electro/prog house.

Rowdy Beats:

If you could hang out for one day with one famous person in or out of music, who would it be and why?

Ravi:

Probably R Kelly. I’m pretty sure he’s one of the craziest people alive and I just want to experience that in person. Also I’m not a 15 year old girl so I probably have nothing to be afraid of.

Grizmatik Releases “My People” Preview

Image

Collaborations are not uncommon in the EDM world, but by far one of the best so far is Grizmatik. With  Griz’s electro-soul vibe and the grimy beats of Gramatik, this duo makes for one killer combo. Grizmatik will be making their first official festival appearance this Sunday, March 10, at Snowball festival in Winter Park, CO. Their first release “Digital Liberation Is Mad Freedom” gave us just a whiff of what these heavy hitters are cookin’. Today we get another little tease with a preview of their next single, “My People”.  Enjoy!

OOAH with some “Raindrops on Roses”

Originally created by An-ten-nae, “Raindrops on Roses” takes a fresh new twist from OOAH. An-ten-nae has been on his game recently, laying down some Acid Crunk tracks that straight murder it. In his remix, OOAH manages to incorporate his own sound without taking anything away from the original. In case you are unfamiliar with the name, OOAH or Josh Mayer is one of the members of the legendary Glitch Mob and also tours with Marty Folb under the name PantyRaid. Wherever this guy goes and whoever he produces music with, you can be certain that it will be dope and you better be ready to get down.

We Love “Bliss”

“Bliss” is the name of Insan3Lik3’s most recent track and the sound has a pretty sweet vibe. We would say this is on the chiller side of the music we post, but it is a refreshing change of pace. The melodic lines intertwined with some cool vocals produce a beautiful sound and we love that feel! This track makes us want to get off planet Earth and explore outer space.  But don’t take our word for it, listen to the track and experience the adventure for  yourself!

Modesteppin Inside My Head

Photo: Belgium, you are fucking nuts!!

Modestep is back at it with a brand new full EP called Inside My Head. All we can say is that it would be a huge mistake to pass up on these new tunes. Josh, Tony and the boys bring their unique styles and tastes to the track and we can’t get enough of it! For their feature track “Inside My Head”, they teamed up with Teddy Killerz and the sound is great.   You never quite know what your going to get from a Modestep track due to their rock music influences and infusions of rap and all that dubby goodness. If the music at ~2:35 sounds familiar its from Showtimes hit show, “Dexter”. For all of you coming at us from Minneapolis, these boys will be passing through on the 7th of April. Don’t miss em!!

Friday “Entertainment”

We’ve posted about Ravi aka Sex Ray Vision before – stating that he hails from Stanford and does what he does for the simple love of EDM. Well, that love is not stopping anytime soon. Check out this newly released remix: “Entertainment”. Originally by Phoenix featuring upbeat synthesizers, bouncy drum beats, and a catchy hook, Ravi has once again made an already awesome song into this rad dance remix that will jump start your Friday party! So be sure to play this tonight, whether you’re partying at home or anywhere else; or if you’re like the unlucky ones, play it while you study or work, so you can automatically be in a good dancing mood 🙂

July 4th? Nah…it’s “Bootleg Fireworks”!

We did not think that Dillon Francis could do much more to prove his talent as an electronic artist, but he has proven us wrong. Known as the “Galactic Emperor of Moombah”, Dillon has shown his ingenuity  by creating tracks that have a beautiful fusion of house music and Reggaeton. But that is not why we are calling his name today. With his new single “Bootleg Fireworks (The Rebirth)”, Dillon Francis has entered the world of trap music and has come in with quite the bang! Using one of his favorite Moombahton tracks, he has raised the tempo of the song and given it a new twist that no one saw coming. There is also a rumor that his music video for the original track may drop within the next week. Keep your eyes and ears open!

“Bluestep” – The Age Of Reason

Many of you might know Gramatik from under the label of Pretty Lights, but now a transcendentalism movement has created Lowtemp – his own label that features his music along with his friends. With Lowtemp, Gramatik states that the label is putting out “cool music”, and when you listen to the song below you will know exactly what that means.  Gramatik presents his brand-new single: “Bluestep”. Talk about cool! This song features some tantalizing 50’s and 60’s blues rhythms along with the traditional and new era EDM beats. From his upcoming album “The Age of Reason”, this is the first track that features some dope dynamics Dubstep/EDM and Jazz. Enjoy!

Fly Friday

We all know about Steve Aoki’s DIM MAK records. Known for bringing forth boss status artists like DATSIK, Infected Mushroom, Bloody Beetroots, and many others to name a few. Now releasing his first in-house collaboration with Dim Mak artists Keys N Krates, Madeon – Icarus (Keys N Krates feat. Will Brennan Remix) is Will Brennan. Brennan strives to achieve excellence by producing lyrics that share his life story. Keys N Krates give Brennan the theme to his autobiography as he laces sick rhymes in this song.
